Approximately one million plants are expected to be installed on the beaches of Collier County, City of Naples, and Marco Island over the next 3-4 months as sand for the dune is reshaped to accept the plants. Planting these areas will help stabilize the dune, enhancing the protection of upland properties. Additionally, protection of the newly planted dunes will be provided by installing posts with signage directing beachgoers to stay off the dunes.
The County’s contractor, Earth Balance Corporation, will start planting at Barefoot Beach on Thursday, November 21, 2024.
