Noise Wall
The Transportation Engineering Division often receives requests for noise walls from private communities. However, the standard policy is to conduct a Noise Study during the design phase of capital highway improvement projects.
County-initiated Capital Improvement Projects follow noise abatement criteria established by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). If a site qualifies for noise abatement, the county will install a wall during the construction phase. For Planned Unit Developments (PUD), the Land Development Code applies. Communities seeking to build a private wall must follow the permitting process by contacting the Zoning Services Section.
