Trichodesmium - a marine cyanobacterium (blue-green algae) found worldwide in tropical and subtropical waters; blooms every year in the Gulf of Mexico.
It is recognized by its sickening sweet smell and saw dust appearance. It can range in color from brown, green, red and pink as it dies. Learn about Trichodesmium
