The objective of the Biomedical Waste Program is to protect health care workers, environmental service staff, waste haulers, and the Community from risks associated with potentially infectious biomedical waste. The Department has primary authority and responsibility for facilities that generate, transport, store, or treat biomedical waste.
This Program at the Florida Department of Health in Collier County is responsible for inspecting all types of facilities, including, but not limited to:
- Body Piercing Salons
- Clinics
- Dentists
- Funeral Homes
- Hospitals
- Laboratories
- Nursing Homes
- Permanent Make-Up
- Physicians
- Pharmacies
- Tattoo Establishments
- Veterinarians
